Seeing as we are about to embark on some serious production in the field of frigates (and very soon on cruisers), I thought i should talk to everyone about BPO's and BPC's. BPO's are most definately the real money spinners for us in the future due to the infinite runs you can do with them. However a BPC (at the moment) can help the corp with an immediate burst of cash. If we purchase a number of small run BC and BS BPC's and then produce the ships we can get the capital together to purchase more cruiser class BPO's. Bear in mind here that a single run BS BPC costs roughly 1-2mil. The minerals shouldn't prove too much of a problem (with a regular mining op) and we can sell the product for 70-120mil. Big profit for relatively little work. Eventually i would like to see us purchase a BC BPO and then a full BS BPO. The production of ships can be extremely profitable for the corp and help us move from strength to strength. Finally, the corp can start to provide ships for it's members at near cost price. This will allow us to start arming everyone with the ships they want at a reduced price and also provide the corp with further cash. Hope this all makes sense and everyone thinks that this is a good plan. Fly safe Dean

Yeah most definately a good plan Dean. I'd like to start moving into ship production. Very informative and helpfull post. thanks very much. What do you think of getting module BPO's as well? or do they not stand to gain as much as ships do?? We're considering getting Ammo BPO's as well so the corp can have ammo as and when it needs it for cost price.

Module BPO's can be profitable but nowhere near as good as Ship ones. Ammo BPO's are a seriously good idea for keeping everyone armed at cheap prices.

I think a limited run bpc should be the first step before buying bpo's: it helps fund the actual bpo purchase and helps us understand the market and profitabilty for ships we plan to sell.
Many forums posts say the tech 1 module market is flooded, and almost impossible to make a profit, but maybe the bpo's for the fittings of our cruiser, so we can fit at low cost. I would think we have 'most' missile bpo's by now, so let's take an inventory rather than buy. And PLEASE lets remember that some of us fire rail guns and would like some hybrid ammo built too.

bought 15 cruiser BPC's from a contract for 5mil, one of each cruiser except 1 Minimatar 5 runs on each.
I have started building a few Thoraxes with some minerals I had lying around.
I hope we can get going with the production and selling, we got more than enough minerals in the corphangar to create quite alot of ships now (atleast last time I checked)
